So cute!

Well, they did it and those Preppies were so cute!! Of course there were the usual technical hitches with the sound and equipment that you expect at a school concert, but they were great. Little Miss was so used to practising her couple of lines in a loud voice that we all were blown away by the sound when she spoke into the microphone - cringe! But she was so pleased with herself and her class.

The photo of Mr Happy is to capture his dancing in the aisle with Little Miss T - they were cute too! What a little groover!

Face paint - so exciting!

Prep concert's getting so close! We're very excited!!

Conversations that made me smile today...

Mr Happy, singing: Lights! Camera! Action! Wiggles!
Mummy joins in.
Mr Happy: you can't sing. You're not a wiggle.
Mummy: but what if I want to be a Wiggle?
Mr Happy: you can't. You're a mummy!

Mr Happy, walking through the garage: Look! There's a sparkly thing!
Mummy: is it fairy dust?
Mr Happy: yes!
Mummy: does that mean there's been a fairy in here?
Mr Happy: oh, mum! (you know, in that tone that says "silly mum". where do they learn that?)

A world of his own...

I love how Mr Happy can disappear into his own world. The cars are "Mummy" and "Daddy" and "Grandma" and "kids" and a bunch of other characters at times. They drive around going to school, shops, home, and other places. They get into accidents (fall over cliffs, break down, etc) and they always help each other. Sometimes I hear "Mummy" call them all in for dinner, or to go to bed. There's lots of chatter involved. A few times I've got in trouble for answering calls for mummy that weren't for me at all! Oh, and there's singing too - very cute!
"Guys, meet you through this gate..."
"Here I am!"
"Watch out for the ladder"
"I'll get you out... just hold on..."

The costume...

Tomorrow night is the Prep concert for Little Miss and she is a mother hen. Before I realised I was going to be ill for over 2 weeks, I promised to make her a twirly skirt and some wings. It has taken more effort than I expected! But finally this afternoon its ready and of course there's photographic evidence. Mr Happy had to get in on the photo shoot - naturally. He's been such a good boy today while Mummy went to the doctor then the chemist. So he's getting lots of hugs:-)

Early morning for someone...

Someone had an early morning here, and it wasn't Mummy! Luckily they set up the dollhouse, got dressed, and did some "office work" quietly until Mummy appeared. "Office work" is anything that involves writing, drawing, cutting things out, etc. Of course, office work then goes into folders to take to school and share with her friends.

Meanwhile Mr Happy was not so happy this morning as he refused to go to sleep last night until about 10:30! He watched most of "Australian Idol", then played cars in his room, only to emerge again later insisting that he needed more cuddles to get to sleep. Since "Bones" wasn't really suitable for him to even "sort of" watch, Mummy had to do cuddles in his room - which was fine since Mummy was tired by then! Still it took a long time to get him to settle...

Today we are playing with Little Miss O and watching the rain.

Egg and spoon race...

Little Miss was invited to a party in the park today. Little brothers and sisters were invited too so we all went. Such a lovely afternoon! Kids had a ball, parents got to chat, party food, cake, games, bikes, all good! But the highlight for Mr Happy was winning the egg and spoon race. Now it must be noted that he didn't really understand that he wasn't supposed to hold the egg on with his other hand! But nevertheless he was very excited to be faster than the big kids! Thanks so much to Mummy K who kindly gave him a prize despite his "cheating". He was still talking about it at dinner...

Helping Daddy...

I love seeing Mr Happy out in the yard following Daddy around - he loves his Dad! On Saturday he was spreading fertiliser so Mr Happy had to go and check it out. You can see his latest toy too - the empty casing from a roll of tape. He carried it around all afternoon...

Our flowers are growing... slowly!

Remember the seeds we planted a few weeks ago with the kids? Well, here's the progress update. We have shoots! Kids are suitably excited although Mummy seems to be the one to do the watering...

Monday with Little Miss O...

I know Monday was a couple of days ago now, but I'm not quite functioning up to speed this week...
Still we had a lovely day with Little Miss O on Monday. Our own Little Miss had a student free day so the girls had a lovely time playing with the things in her bedroom that are usually out of bounds on Mondays. They were so intent on their Barbie dressing here that they didn't even realise I was lining up for a photo. So sweet to see them playing nicely together and enjoying each other's company.

Toot toot!

Mr Happy has always loved the train set. Yesterday afternoon he set it up so that it covered the floor mat in the living room. He must have decided that he wanted a bridge so here's how he made it - a line of trucks to hold it up. He was back at it at 6am this morning - much better than waking up me!

Playgroup...

Tuesday is usually playgroup day for Mr Happy and I. He loves having a bunch of other kids and heaps of toys to play with! Today he had particular fun with Mr J and their funny hats. So I had to catch a photo on the phone... not that they stayed very still for me!

It's been a while...

...since I got around to writing! The first week back at school was tiring all round and Little Miss had the last day and a half home sick. Then Mr Happy was sick too, Craftydaddy had a slight reaction to his swine flu vaccine, and today I'm feeling unwell!
But we did have some catch-up with the school friends and the playgroup friends, which was nice after a couple of weeks off.
I dreamed of sewing all week, and finally got to it on Saturday - or was that Sunday? I've lost track a bit! But I did another pair of shorts for Mr Happy, finished a little case for my sewing scissors, and some more drink bottle covers with the left-over stuff from the Father's Day presents from school. I got some more fabric in the mail today - flannel quilt fabric and some dress fabric for Little Miss, and a cute dinosaur print for Mr Happy.
Anyway Little Miss and Mr Happy are both pretty much over their colds - just as well as there are a few things planned for this week... Hopefully mine will disappear overnight...

Back to School...

Yesterday was back to school for Little Miss. She had been missing her friends so it was time to get back. But she was tired from a late night the day before so she had a little melt down when I tried to leave the classroom... Poor thing! Anyway she said she had a good day and they got some extra sleep last night so all good today. Here's her new school shoes - yes, they have flowers on the front - very girly!

Cinderella...

This morning we went to see Cinderella. It was great! Lots of singing and dancing and the silly jokes that kids love! A few of my shots came out...
The kids got a little present each. Mr Happy probably wouldn't have sat through the show without his spinning lights, and Little Miss was rapt with her crown and cloak. Afterwards we had special lunch at our favourite cafe. All in all a lovely way to spend the (almost) last day of the holidays.
Now I'm off to fix the clothesline that decided to break when I was trying to get out the door earlier - can't live for long without my clothesline!

Social Butterflies...

We've been busy social butterflies for the last 2 days. Yesterday our friends Mummy S, Little Miss E and Mr K came to play with us. The girls go to school together so they haven't seen each other over the holiday break. They were very excited! There was dress-ups, drawing, cars, scrapbooking talk and yummy morning tea. Thanks, Friends!
Then today we went to visit a different Mummy S, Little Miss O and Buzz Lightyear. We also saw Mummy J and Small Boy. The kids had a ball catching up and playing in the yard. We did miss Mummy B and her girls, though:-(
Tomorrow we are going to see "Cinderella" so there is much anticipation here. I must remember to take some photos...
